Footnotes
  1. 1.0 1.1 It was rare enough, but still happened in the long course of the Kagura dynasty that an emperor/empress adopted no era name. Since the history of Uziva generally recorded a year after the ruler's era name, the court historians assumed the previous era name if such instance happened.
  2. According to Uzivian traditions, this emperor was simply referred as Emperor Katsuhiko, as opposed to the other emperors who had an era name, such as his uncle, who is referred to as the Gempei Emperor.
  3. According to Uzivian traditions, this emperor was simply referred as Emperor Benkei. If it was necessary to distinguish him from others with similar names, the historians may have chosen his peerage after abdication, "Prince Kōnō."
